Principal’s Message

FROM THE DESK OF ROBERT BALLANTYNE, PRINCIPAL

02 February 2010

Time continues to fly at NRHS! First semester and January exams are now behind us and we now begin to focus on second semester with most high school students starting new courses. First semester report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. For high school students who are in semestered courses these will be final marks. There will be no formal Parent-Teacher Visitation for grades 10, 11, 12,or OPP in February. There will, however, be a visitation for grade 9 parents on Thursday, February 11, in the cafeteria from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Second semester will have a busy start. In addition to course registration, we have several new international students arriving, Winter Carnival during the week of February 15, and our Winter Carnival Dance on Thursday, February 18. On February 25, 26, and 27, we will be presenting this year’s musical Phantom of the Op’ry. Performances are at 7 p.m. each day with a 2 p.m. matinée performance on Saturday afternoon. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and matinee prices are $8 for all. You may book your tickets by calling the main office at 396-2750. As we start second semester, I want to remind both students and parents of the importance of arriving to school on time and regular attendance. Not only is late arrival or absence detrimental to the student involved, it is also very disruptive to the rest of the class. Please assist us in ensuring students are in class on time each day. As always, if you have any questions or comments about items in this newsletter, please contact the school.
